Be a Mentor

Wings to Fly Mentorship Program

Background Information

Equity Group Foundation together with Master Card Foundation and other partners are committed to provide financial support and leadership empowerment tools to academically gifted children who come from vulnerable backgrounds. Scholars under this program receive support for all their educational needs for their four year secondary education. The program has close to 10000 scholars enjoying this comprehensive scholarship package.

Rationale for Mentorship Support

In addition to financial needs provided, Wings to Fly scholars require psychosocial support and guidance from more experienced adults who they can trust and easily identify with. This is more so because some of these scholars lack ‘parent-figures’ to identify with while others come from broken and unsupportive family backgrounds. Their experience in such circumstances remains an impediment in their effort to excel in academics as well as in their general life. Equity Group Foundation has thus put in place a mentoring program geared towards equipping the scholars with the right values, attitudes and skills necessary that will ensure their holistic growth.

Wings to Fly Mentorship Program Approach

This is majorly school based mentorship where mentors visit and interact with their mentees in schools at least once in a term The program focuses on mentoring the scholars in four key areas; academic excellence, developing a value centered life, leadership and the importance of giving back to the society; all geared towards helping the scholar unleash their full potential.
