Dr. Patricia Owira holds an M.Sc. in Public Health for Development from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and dual degrees in Medicine & Surgery and Human Anatomy from the University of Nairobi. She also holds certifications in Leadership in Public Management from Bridgewater State University and in Project Management in the Development Sector from Pyramid Learning, UK.
She is a medical doctor and public health specialist with extensive experience in advancing access to affordable and quality primary healthcare across East and Central Africa. She has led strategic efforts to strengthen health systems, foster public-private partnerships, and deliver integrated primary healthcare to underserved communities.
Before joining Equity Group Foundation, Dr. Owira served as Deputy Country Director and Principal Investigator at the International Centre for Reproductive Health Kenya, where she spearheaded reproductive, maternal, and newborn health programmes and research that informed World Health Organization global guidance and shaped Kenya’s national health policies.
Dr. Owira is a Chevening Scholar and a Mandela Washington Fellow. She was nominated by the Health NGOs Network to serve on the Global UHC2030 SPHERE Core Committee, contributing to the advancement of universal health coverage and resilient health systems globally.
At Equity Group Foundation, she provides strategic leadership in Health, driving partnerships and initiatives that promote equitable access to quality healthcare and strengthen community and health system resilience across the region.
