Rachael grew up in Karatina, where she attended Kiangurwe Primary School, then Mt. Carmel Girls Secondary School, a boarding secondary school in Nyeri County.

She is now a fourth-year economics and statistics student and the co-founder of Pearl enterprises, a retail shoe store, which was recognized by Equity Bank as one of the top three business ideas of 2014 through the ELP Investments Committee. In addition to excelling in her studies and launching her own business, Rachael has volunteered as a mentor at Kwale Girls High School, an Equity Center for Excellence, and as the treasurer of University Students from her home district, a community development group that offers a range of free services, including medical camps, mentorship and environment conservation seminars.
