Equity Group Foundation International (EGFI) was founded in the United States in 2014 to build international support for the life-changing work of Equity Group Foundation (EGF). EGFI’s mission is to champion the social and economic transformation of the people of Africa, and its vision is an African continent where every person has a chance to attain a healthy, secure, and productive future.

EGFI advances its mission by working in partnership with EGF, an African-led, non-profit organisation, headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, that helps individuals and families move out of poverty through targeted investments in educationagriculture, and other key areas that contribute to sustainable economic and social development.

Though broadly supportive of all of EGF’s programs, EGFI places a particular emphasis on building partnerships and raising funds to support education, and, in particular, the Wings to Fly competitive secondary school scholarship program.

EGFI believes that providing access to education is vital if Africa’s young people are to break once-entrenched cycles of poverty and change the economic course of their communities, countries, and the continent. Since 2011, Wings to Fly has helped over 14,168 bright young people from desperately poor backgrounds reach high school, with over 97% of scholars graduating on time. Scholars are chosen from every county in Kenya; 86% are orphaned by one or both parents; and well over half are girls.

Wings to Fly scholars are proving worthy of this investment based on academic merit alone, over 88% have qualified for university admission, compared to 26% of high school graduates nationally.

EGFI is committed to helping thousands more young people reach high school each year in Kenya and elsewhere in Africa and to developing Africa’s next generation of leaders. Together with EGF, we have set an ambitious goal of awarding an additional 20,000 scholarships by 2021.

We invite you to join us in this important effort by making a contribution today. By contributing, you are doing your part to help Africa’s next generation fulfill its potential in the workplace and the world.

EGFI is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States. All contributions to EGFI are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
